Maximilian Büsser got the brightest brains behind his next project: taking Ross home. In Basel we saw the Fifth Element by MB&F and L’Epée.
Chopard announced a huge milestone on their route to sustainable luxury: by July 2018 only ethically sourced gold will be used throughout their jewellery and watch portfolio. Before exploring the novelties of Chopard, we attended an inspiring talk in Basel with key people in the fight for an ethical supply chain.
This year Glashütte Original brought newly designed versions of its successful classics. The two most interesting novelties were the Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar in white gold and annual editions of the Sixties and Sixties Panorama Date models with striking green dials.
Ferdinand Berthoud came out with the Chronomètre FB 1R earlier this year, which builds upon the beautiful movement and the octagonal case of the initial FB1. However, the dial gave a completely different flavour to the piece. In Basel, the manufacture presented a special bronze edition, which become one of the highlights of this year to me.
‘Nobody has a peripheral system like we do. We want to be the leader in peripheral technology.’ – Sascha Moeri started the presentation of the new Manero Tourbillon Double Peripheral with an overview about the strategy behind the piece. We visited Carl F. Bucherer at Baselworld.
