The ‘Hermès in the Making’ series brings craftspeople from the house’s métiers to offer a sneak-peek into their expert techniques and exclusive know-how. From November 6th to 14th the Lichthalle Maag in Zurich welcomes the event.

Hermès International S.A. is a French luxury design house and manufacturer established in 1837, and it is among the most established, iconic and most recognisable luxury brands of the world. Since its founding, six generations of artisans have safeguarded and nurtured their historic know-how in the Hermès workshops. This heritage is a living, flourishing and constantly evolving treasure trove of artisanal skills.

Their work echoes the heart of Hermès: preserving and developing savoir-faire – expertise which is often linked to a historical tradition or region – a quest for quality, durability and innovation, and respect for the surrounding environments.

Hermès employs more than 20,000 people, over 7,300 of whom are artisans. 62% of employees work in France. Through its integrated production model, Hermès manufactures 76% of its objects in its own, exclusive workshops. Hermès objects are manufactured mainly in France, the production and training is carried out across 52 sites, organised into regional hubs. This network is supplemented by twelve manufactures in other countries, located in Switzerland, Italy, the UK, the USA, Portugal and Australia.

The company is a major player in the luxury fashion and accessories industry and dares to approach genres and different product types from a playful perspective. Because they have a very strong identity, they can afford to play, which gives birth to creative campaigns and novelties.

This 8-day public event in Zurich showcases this creativity, craftsmanship and dedication – it features live demonstrations, workshops, interactive activities, and films in the Lichthalle MAAG in Zurich, behind Hardbrücke train station, in the cultural and nightlife quarter of Zurich-West. The building complex was originally the factory of the Max Maag Zahnradfabrik in 1913.

You can book a slot for 6-14 November (except 11 November), 10am – 7pm, here.
