The new addition in the ‘Fenêtres sur Temps’ line of Claude Meylan tends to brighten up the moody autumn days. It was revealed during the Geneva Watch Days at the Hotel Beau Rivage.
Claude Meylan is well known for skeletonized movements – the ‘Art of the Skeleton’ as they call it. The brand – originating back to 1982, and registered as a company in 1988 – throughout the years has become an expert in crafting high-quality Swiss movements (the ETA and Valjoux) with a skeleton design.
The niche independent watchmaking company is now headed by the current owner & CEO Philippe Belais. He and his team love to play with different shapes, designs, materials and decorations – all around the fully or partially skeleton calibres. That was the concept for the dedicated women collection, the Tortue Lady too. The ‘Fenêtres sur Temps’ adds an additional idea to the skeleton concept, by creatively depicting the fleeting nature of time.
‘Fenêtres sur Temps’
Claude Meylan is based in L’Abbaye, a typical village of the Vallée de Joux close to the Lac de Joux, which is the largest lake in Switzerland lying above 1,000 metres. The names of some of the collections, ‘Lac’, ‘Lionne’ and ‘l’Abbaye’, reflect these geographic roots.
The ‘Line Lac’ is inspired by the lake, including round watches, such as the ‘Fenêtres sur Temps’ or ‘Windows of Time’.
The 42mm steel ‘Fenêtres sur Temps’ timepiece has an electric pink dial decorated and fitted with two round windows and an arrow. The perpetual rotation of the hour dials will let you discover different parts of the movement, while the pierced arrow of the dial indicates the hour. This way you can not only witness the time passing by but it also nicely reflects the changes of the time. (Check out the animation about the moving dial here.)
The ETA/Unitas calibre 6497 mechanical manual-wound movement has a power reserve of 42 hours. It is fully decorated and open, as you can discover it on the sapphire caseback.
The company already created many versions of the ‘Fenêtres sur Temps’, some versions like this pink will remained limited in production (for a year only).
