Czapek & Cie. was present at Geneva Watch Days with star-studded releases – the Antarctique Polar Sky and Antarctique Flying Diamonds timepieces and their S versions.
The very popular Antarctique line of Czapek received new members – all models with deep blue aventurine dial. Aventurine generally means a form of quartzite stone, with a shimmering or glistening effect and it is most commonly green. But the word ‘aventurine’ also refers to a type of glass, first made in Venice, Murano, around the 17th century. The translucent glass has sparkling inclusions of gold, copper, or chromic oxide. Aventurine glass imitates the mineral of the same name, with the tiny, shiny particles. The material is very difficult to work with, especially at this size and thinness – it is even more prone to chipping or breaking.
‘It’s a material that we love to play with, and it was a logical evolution to use it for the Antarctique – they were made to go together. Moreover, Antarctica is the world’s best spot for stargazing!’ says Czapek’s CEO Xavier de Roquemaurel.
Czapek launched the Antarctique Polar Sky in 40,5mm and the Antarctique S Polar Sky in 38,5mm and the same sizes with the Antarctique Flying Diamonds. The latter is decorated with ‘Antarctique’ cut diamond indexes. The elongated index marker is an entirely new diamond cut, designed exclusively for Czapek and officially registered. With 24 facets (14 on the pavilion and 10 on the table) the Antarctique cut captures and reflects the light much more than a standard baguette cut, which may have as few as 14 facets.
The watches beat with the powerful, 30-millimeter SXH5 automatic calibre, conceived exclusively by Czapek’s concepteur, Daniel Martinez.
The novelties come in a limited edition of 99, 77 and for the Flying Diamonds versions 18 pieces, respectively. They are available for pre-order at the brand’s authorised dealers worldwide, the boutique in Geneva, rue de la Corraterie 18, and at Czapek.com. Deliveries will start in Q4 2025.
