Czapek & Cie just unveiled a new, limited edition Faubourg de Cracovie chronograph model with an aventurine dial on the occasion of the Watch Time New York show.

The Faubourg de Cracovie chronograph is the company’s third collection and was named after the location of Czapek’s third boutique, which he opened in 1850 in Warsaw, Poland. It is an integrated chronograph, meaning that the chronograph complication is built into the base caliber and the two are working together (unlike the modular chronograph where the base movement is fully assembled first to which a chronograph module is added).

The COSC-certified integrated column-wheel SXH3 chronograph movement was made by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. The caliber delivers 65 hours power reserve from a single barrel that drives the balance wheel at 36,000 vph/5 Hz (36,000 vibrations per hour).

Czapek’s chronograph already has pretty diverse models – the ‘Salmon line’ (with four dial combinations with salmon colour), the dark and sporty Black Knight, the elegant Grand Feu enamel version or the very special Only Watch edition, a black onyx and titanium version in 2019.

The new 41.5mm Faubourg de Cracovie features three aventurine dials, as each of the chronograph counters is fixed inside the hours and minutes dial, as sub-dials. “Cutting out aventurine, a very fragile glass, is a challenge in itself,” says Xavier de Roquemaurel, CEO of Czapek & Cie. “If you add the fact that the indices are applied and not transferred, with the risk of creating fractures by piercing the dial, you appreciate the high end of savoir faire when working with aventurine.”

The stainless steel case gives a great contrasting frame to the deep aventurine dial. The latest Faubourg de Cracovie chronograph is a limited edition of 50 pieces and it will be available at Czapek’s official retailers worldwide as well as the Czapek Geneva boutique and on the website of the brand
