MCH Group & Informa Markets join forces to unveil a new international stage, called Basilia: a new platform designed to connect Asia and Europe, aligned with the realities of today’s jewellery, gems and watches industries.
Today MCH Group & Informa Markets launched a new chapter of the international gem and watch industry in a press conference at Messe Basel with Margaret Ma Connolly (President & CEO, Informa Markets Asia), Dan Ye (Vice President, Informa Markets Asia), Roman Imgrüth (CEO Exhibitions & Events, MCH Group) and Artur Faria (Creative Director, MCH Group).
With Informa Markets, the MCH Group gains a partner with a unique global reach: the world’s leading B2B network in the jewellery industry and organiser of leading events such as Jewellery & Gem World Hong Kong.
As Artur Faria explains the event’s name comes from an ancient name of Basel. First recorded in the 4th century by the Roman historian Ammianus Marcellinus, the name stems from the Greek word basileus, which translates to “king” or “royal”. The first edition of the event next spring will be titled “The City under construction’.
The first edition of the “Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair” will take place in April next year in Hall 2 of Messe Basel and is expected to bring together 400 exhibitors: manufacturers, designers, brands, retailers and wholesalers, distributors and other specialists from all over the world. The dates are not confirmed yet – the organisation aims to have overlapping dates with Watches and Wonders Geneva, also scheduled to take place next April.
