On the first day of Geneva Watch Days, De Bethune introduced two new models in XS format – the 39mm DB28xs Steel Wheels and DBxs Aérolite.
DB28xs Steel Wheels
The DB28 models of De Bethune have a great reputation for years – it was also named ‘Best Watch of the Year’ in 2011 and was awarded the Aiguille d’Or prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG). All DB28 watches have a very recognisable case with the innovative floating lungs designed for an added wearing comfort and the crown at 12 o’clock – inspired by pocket watches.
De Bethune didn’t simply miniaturise the original DB28 Steel Wheels; the Manufacture created a new watch that preserves all the architectural and technical richness of its predecessor, while adapting it to a smaller size, with the manually wound De Bethune caliber DB2115V13. The movement has 6 days power-reserve, ensured by a self-regulating twin barrel and features more De Bethune innovations, like the titanium balance with white gold inserts, optimised for temperature differences and air penetration.
DB28xs Aérolite
This novelty is not only very comfortable to wear – similarly to the other DB28xs models – but looks cool and edgy, in De Bethune style. The dial features a random guilloché pattern, harmoniously contrasted by the perfect geometric lines of the Muonionalusta meteorite. The Swedish Muonionalusta iron meteorite is known as the oldest meteorite discovered so far and has an interesting pattern, the so-called Widmanstätten-texture.
According to De Bethune co-founder, Denis Flageollet, ‘No other metal is as infused with pure energy and emotion as iron meteorites, which have taken form in the furnace of stars.’
The unique meteorite dial is paired with the 39mm black zirconium case, which houses the mechanical hand-wound Calibre DB2005 – as the DB28xs Starry Seas, launched last year’s Geneva Watch Days.
The novelty will be created in a limited annual production.
DB Eight
DB Eight, a manually wound mono-pusher chronograph was presented in 2023 with the Manufacture’s 31st in-house calibre, the DB3000. At the De Bethune suite at Beau Rivage we saw the models with 42,4mm polished white gold case, royal blue guilloche dial and the yellow gold version with a chocolate brown dial.
