Frederique Constant celebrates its 35th anniversary this year and beside a big party during the Geneva Watch Days, the brand released a new creation: the Classic Power Reserve Big Date Manufacture.
Last November we visited the Frederique Constant manufacture in the Plan-les-Ouates district of Geneva to learn more about their story. Frederique Constant creates, develops, assembles and controls a wide variety of mechanical and quartz timepieces. The company has designed 30 manufacture calibres so far and offers a dedicated Manufacture collection, based on two in-house developed and assembled calibre families: the 900 series and the 700 series.
Earlier this year, Mr. Niels Eggerding, CEO of Frederique Constant told us that they would celebrate their 35th anniversary throughout the year. The latest release, the new FC-735 calibre and the Classic Power Reserve Big Date Manufacture timepiece are the next chapter in this anniversary series.
The FC-735 is the 31th manufacture movement of the company. It’s the first calibre from the firm to offer a big date, a moonphase and a 50-hour power reserve indicator.
The power reserve is indicated at 9 o’clock by a dedicated hand, while the big date sits in a double window between 2 and 3 o’clock. The moon phase shines at 6 o’clock with a starry blue background.
The Classic Power Reserve Big Date Manufacture adheres to Frederique Constant’s principles for a creating easy-to-use timepieces. The three complications, the time setting function and the winding mechanism are all adjusted via the crown at 3 o’clock.
The new calibre has been placed in four 40mm editions of the Classic Power Reserve Big Date Manufacture model. The first two are limited. The highlight is naturally the fully-polished platinum piece with a rare meteorite dial, silver moon and a navy blue alligator strap matching the colour of the dial, which is offered in 35-piece batch.
The rose gold piece comes with a sun-brushed grey dial and a brown alligator strap. It is produced in 350 units. Matching the tone of the case, the moon and the stars are rose gold.
The two non-limited versions that will become the part of the standard Classic collection, have polished steel case and a blue or silver dial, with a dark blue alligator leather strap.
