ID Genève announces its formal membership to the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030, the leading multi-stakeholder platform uniting the watch and jewellery industry around climate resilience, biodiversity, and inclusiveness.

The Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030 is a multi-stakeholder sustainability platform that brings together brands and companies across the global watch and jewellery value chain. Founded in 2022 by Kering and Cartier, delegated by Richemont and supported by partners like the Responsible Jewellery Council, WJI 2030 aims to drive collective action on environmental and social challenges facing the sector. The initiative aligns its work with international sustainability frameworks and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The initiative is built around three key goals that companies commit to working on by 2030: building climate resilience, preserving resources and fostering inclusiveness. Today the WJI 2030 has more than 70 members, including Maisons, partner members and affiliate members.

ID Genève is a young watch company launched by crowdfunding in 2020. The circular economy approach is the founding principle for the brand. In 2023, they raised 2 millions CHF and environmental activist & famed actor Leonardo DiCaprio invested in the company. They have a long-term vision of what they would like the luxury industry to promote: to become a force for good, a driver of the needed business model transformation that our world’s challenges require.

By joining WJI 2030, ID Genève reinforces its commitment to collective action and long-term industry changes, aligning with peers shaping the future codes of luxury.

‘Joining WJI 2030 is both a milestone and a catalyst. We believe the future of luxury must be collaborative. This partnership allows us to amplify impact alongside peers who share our convictions,’ shares Nicolas Freudiger, CEO, ID Genève Watches.

Iris Van der Veken, Executive Director & Secretary General of WJI 2030, adds: ‘We welcome ID Genève to the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030. I believe luxury has a unique cultural influence, and with that comes a responsibility to show that beauty, craftmanship, excellence, innovation and responsibility can coexist. We firmly believe that meaningful impact can only be achieved through partnership and collective action. By uniting the watch and jewellery value chain, we can build trust, strengthen resilience, and accelerate positive impact on the ground.’
