The Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies–Only Project, has been active internationally since 2001 with the mission to find a cure to Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The ‘Only Watch’ charity auction organised by the president of the AMM, is held every two years. The organisation released the latest news regarding its work.
The Only Watch is a biennial charity auction of unique timepieces created and donated by fine watchmakers for research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Luc Pettavino, co-founder of the Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies (AMM) and founder of Only Watch has started this themed charity auction for personal reason – his late son, Paul, suffered from muscular dystrophy. More about the details and about a few editions here.
Last year the organization of the association has been strengthened and tools for transparency with stakeholders have been put in place and with the creation of a Strategic- and a Scientific Committee. This May AMM-Only Project presented its 2024 Annual Report and Financial Statements, which have been certified by an independent auditor, Mr. Christian Boisson, of the firm Grant Thornton Monaco.
As the association sums up, they allocated a total of €7,806,481 to support high-impact research in neuromuscular diseases through direct funding, grants, and strategic partnerships. Today, nearly 50 scientists and clinicians are engaged in Only Project-funded initiatives. Fourteen new projects received support, with an average funding envelope of €140k (excluding SQY Therapeutics).
For 2025, more than €23 million has been budgeted for research support, including: A €12.9 million interest-free loan provided by the association to SQY Therapeutics; €5 million has been dedicated to the ambitious Pioneers Grant. Launched in March, this program is designed to enable high-risk, high-reward research in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). €5 million has been budgeted for direct grantmaking and partnerships on other fundamental, translational and applied research projects.
