Piaget unveils two new Altiplano models in gold and khaki green, the Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon and the Altiplano 910P.

The creation of ultra-thin timepieces has been part of Piaget’s know-how for a very long time. In 2018 they presented the Altiplano Ultimate Concept watch, the world’s thinnest hand-wound mechanical watch at the time, with an only 2mm overall thickness. The timepiece won the prestigious Aiguille d’Or prize at Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2020.

At Watches and Wonders 2022 the Manufacture presented the Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tribute, with a dial featuring dot-stars illuminated with Super-LumiNova that replicate the sky above La Côte-aux-Fées at the date and time of the AUC’s birth. To mark its 150th anniversary, Maison Piaget has debuted the Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon with 2 mm thickness and including a flying tourbillon.

This autumn Maison introduces a new interpretation of the Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon, distinguished by a sophisticated, warmer colour palette of khaki green and yellow gold. The cobalt alloy case is still 2.0mm thin, of course.

Crafted from resistant cobalt alloy, the case has a sapphire ‘window’ on the caseback for the first time. The caliber now features a variety of satin-brushed and polished finishes, bringing a more contemporary character to the piece. The caseback bears two engraved tributes: the brand’s motto, ‘Always do better than necessary’ in French, and ‘La Côte-aux-Fées,’ the name of the historic village where Piaget was founded.

The 41mm Altiplano Ultimate Automatic is part of the brand’s not limited collection since 2018. Measuring just 4.3 mm thick, the 41mm case is made now for the first time in yellow gold, creating a radiant contrast with the rich khaki green dial and matching alligator strap.

The Calibre 910P and the case form a single entity with the latter serving as the main plate to which the extremely thin components are affixed. The construction of the movement is reversed; the bridges are fitted on the dial side. The designers played with the colours on the novelty – the bridges are finished in khaki green and a peripheral rotor rendered in slate grey and green tones, to complement the warmth of the yellow gold case.
