Sister brands Angelus and Arnold & Son were at the Carré des Horlogers section at Palexpo during Watches & Wonders Geneva, introducing great novelties, including a new collection.
Angelus is a Swiss watchmaking house based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, originally founded in 1891. The company reinvents its classic models, entirely in-house with its integrated manufacture. The La Fabrique collection is the most elegant line of Angelus – the pieces are timeless interpretations of Angelus’ watchmaking legacy. Last autumn two ‘Instrument de Vitesse’ monopusher chronographs were added to the collection.
Chronographe Télémètre
At Watches and Wonders Angelus released new chronograph models with an integrated mono-pusher, the Chronographe Télémètre. These are limited edition of two different sets of 25 steel timepieces and 15 items in 18k yellow gold.
The novelties are very nice, contemporary but vintage inspired 37mm watches, sitting well on wrists of different sizes. The steel ones have rose-bronze coloured and titanium-grey dials, while the yellow gold model features a silvery white face. All have a grained effect decoration in the centre of the dials. It shows the small seconds at 9 o’clock and a 30-minute totaliser at 3 o’clock, with ‘snailed’ counters.
The case’s characteristic curves, the polished edges of the lugs, the size and the proportions contribute to the vintage signature look of the timepieces in the La Fabrique collection.
The Chronographe Télémètre is powered by the 4.2mm slim, in-house, hand-wound A5000 calibre with a 42-hour power reserve. Its regulating group oscillates at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) and the chronograph function is controlled by a column wheel with a horizontal clutch, just as it was in many chronographs produced between the 1940s and the early 1970s.
Flying Tourbillon Titanium, Blue Edition
This novelty belongs to the brand’s contemporary collection – it adopts the architecture of the house’s more modern case, which we’ve seen at the Chronodate pieces. It consists of a carbon composite container surrounded by a titanium case middle with a notched bezel.
The 42.5 mm diameter timepiece has a skeleton dial and vivid blue coloured bridges, flange and minute circle. The openworked three-armed wheels, a signature of Angelus watches, each interlock and lead to the flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock. The watch is delivered with an interchangeable matte blue alligator and additional rubber strap included.
Inside, Angelus has installed a new hand-wound movement, the A-310 calibre. Large Arabic numerals float between the sapphire crystal and the PVD-treated bridges, adding rhythm and lightness to Flying Tourbillon Titanium.
The new titanium Angelus watch also arrives in a limited edition of 25 pieces.
