The first permanent campus of ‘L’École Middle East’ in Dubai is now officially open. It offers interesting public courses and a new regional exhibition, ‘Gold and Treasures: 3000 Years of Chinese Ornaments’.

The ‘L’École, School of Jewelry Arts’ opens its fourth permanent international campus at the Dubai Design District. Earlier this year, as part of the ‘Discover the gemstones’ series, the beautiful ‘Garden of Emeralds’ exhibition was on view

Now Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and Member of The Executive Council of Dubai, officially inaugurated the first permanent campus of ‘L’École Middle East’ in strategic partnership with Dubai Design District (d3). The opening ceremony was attended by Nicolas Bos, Global President & CEO of Van Cleef & Arpels; Lise MacDonald, Global President of L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts; Alessandro Maffi, President of Van Cleef & Arpels Middle East & India; Sophie Claudel, Director of L’ÉCOLE Middle East and senior officials from Dubai Culture, Dubai Design District (d3).

‘Gold and Treasures: 3000 Years of Chinese Ornaments’ exhibition at the Dubai campus

The new campus has launched its operations by introducing 13 public courses and opening of its first regional exhibition, ‘Gold and Treasures: 3000 Years of Chinese Ornaments,’ running from 26 April to 10 August. This exhibition showcases a curated selection of 100 masterpieces from the renowned Mengdiexuan Collection, one of Hong Kong’s premier private art collections, spanning over three millennia of goldsmithing work in China.

‘Gold and Treasures: 3000 Years of Chinese Ornaments’ exhibition at the Dubai campus

The ‘Gold and Treasures, 3000 years of Chinese ornaments – the Mengdiexuan Collection’ was exhibited at the ‘L’École, School of Jewelry Arts’ in Paris, from December 1st 2022 to April 14th 2023. Please see our article here about this exceptional collection, owned by third-generation collectors from Hong Kong, Betty Lo and Kenneth Chu. 

The program at L’École Middle East welcome the general public. The talks, demonstrations and courses provide a unique opportunity to explore jewellery design’s art, history, and intricacies under the guidance of expert instructors and industry professionals. Discover the program here.
