Just before the holidays Vacheron Constantin adds sparkle to its Overseas collection with a new white gold tourbillon model, set with baguette-cut diamonds.
This fall the Maison presented its latest ‘One of not Many’ campaign created with Zaria Forman and also a a 35 mm self-winding model in the Overseas line. Now, for the first time, the model is attired in white gold and combines the brand’s ultra-thin movement Tourbillon movement Calibre 2160 with the brilliance of baguette-cut diamonds.
The 42.5 mm-diameter Overseas tourbillon high jewellery has a translucent, lacquered and sunburst satin-finished blue dial, which makes a striking contrast with the 60 diamonds on the six-sided bezel and the 9 diamond hour-markers.
Christian Selmoni, Style & Heritage Director explains the choice of the baguette-cut diamonds – ‘Vacheron Constantin’s designers and gemsetters introduced this new cut to the Overseas collection because it is beautifully aligned with its sophisticated character. Compared with the 58-facet brilliant cut most widely used in the jewellery world, the baguette cut with its 25 facets features an edgier, more graphic look that emphasises the diamond’s purity rather than its brilliance. With its right angles, flat surface and sharp edges, the baguette cut reinforces the architectural design of Overseas.’
The novelty has a very slim case (10.39 mm thick) for a tourbillon watch and with its slender curves it sits very comfortably on the wrist. The in-house 2160 calibre works inside and makes the thin case possible – equipped with a 22k gold peripheral rotor, this 188-part movement is only 5.65 mm thick. It ensures an 80-hour power reserve while driving displays of the hours, minutes as well as small seconds on the tourbillon carriage. You can admire the movement through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback.
Overseas tourbillon high jewellery watch features a interchangeable bracelet/strap system. The watch is supplied with an integrated white gold bracelet, a calfskin leather strap and a sporty blue rubber strap. The tool-free system makes very easy to create the desired look for the day.
As Mr. Selmoni states – ‘This timepiece represents a magnificent compromise between a technical watch with a sporty look and more formal models.’
