Zenith x Fusalp – two alpine stars came to together in Zurich to present their new collaboration, including two Zenith Defy Classic watches and a Fusalp clothing capsule collection.

Zenith just launched a new collaboration to kick off the winter in style – the Le Locle manufacture teamed up with the French Alpine skiwear brand, Fusalp.

Yesterday evening – despite the unusually mild weather for the season – we were in après-ski mood in downtown Zurich, at the opening of the new Fusalp boutique.

Zenith and Fusalp, the 70 years young French luxury ski brand, have combined their know-how to release a unique capsule collection. This capsule features two, limited edition bespoke watches and a contemporary sport-chic wardrobe that reflects the style and spirit of the Le Locle watchmaker and the Annecy tailor.

The DEFY Classic Skeleton Fusalp comes in black and white ceramic case, limited to 300 and 100 pieces, respectively. The models have a new open dial, a lovely snowflake substitutes the Zenith five-pointed star. Similarly to other DEFY models, the new dial has a remarkable depth and contrast, highlighted by a rose gold coloured lower open layer and surrounded by a ring in the French tricolour tones of blue, red and white, a nod to the tailor’s French origin.

The rubber strap has also been designed to incorporate elements inspired by the clothing capsule collection designed by Fusalp exclusively for this collaboration – a concentric rectangles pattern and a fabric-like structure.

The clothes designed by Fusalp are the perfect companion to the watches – the Fusalp x Zenith ski jackets have a “storm cuff” sleeves specially developed for this collaboration. These sleeves feature a zippered opening, designed to be able to comfortably wear and view your watch between the outer shell layer and the soft, fine knit fabric underneath that’s adorned with the blue, white and red stripes.

Zenith CEO Julien Tornare, Fusalp CEO Alexandre Fauvet and Fusalp President Philippe Lacoste greeted us at the new boutique, emphasising the excitement on this collaboration.

Julien Tornare shared, “This is an exciting new kind of partnership for Zenith, and one that is very close to our hearts. More than just a fashion House, Fusalp are innovators. Their never-ending quest to produce highly technical yet fashionable clothing is something that Zenith totally relates to.”

As Alexandre Fauvet said, “Fusalp and Zenith have respectively revolutionised their industries. The mastery of time and movement, embodied by Zenith, as inventor of the world’s first automatic chronograph movement in 1969. Two years earlier Fusalp invented the first competition ski suit, with France’s national ski team going on to win seven gold medals at the Portillo Alpine World Championships in 1966. These feats shape Fusalp and Zenith as pioneers, who nurture the precision for exceptional products, which are designed with refined modernity, accuracy and craftsmanship.’’
