NOMOS Glashütte just released the Tangente neomatik platinum gray, available in diameters of 35 and 39 millimeters – an elegant new addition to the most successful watch line by the German brand.

NOMOS has very specific designs and model families – Tangente undoubtedly is one of the most classic ones, launched in 1992 (celebrating the 30th birthday this year). It is a kind of ‘forever piece’, never seems outdated. Now NOMOS presented a new stainless steel model with “platinum grey” dial – plated with rhodium, a platinum metal which provides the special grey hue.

The watch-face has the emblematic Tangente typography with clean, precise, Bauhaus inspired letters and the ‘neomatik’ written in golden, giving a subtle but nice contrast on the platinum grey dial. The proportions are again spot-on and elegant on both sizes (35 and 39mm). You can opt for a steel back of the case which gives you the opportunity to include an engraved message or for the other edition with a crystal glass back, and you can observe the NOMOS caliber DUW 3001 in motion.

NOMOS Glashütte introduced the DUW 3001 automatic movement in 2015 as the 10th calibre, which is a mere 3.2 mm thin. The entire gear train is on the same level in a 1mm thick space between the main plate and the three-quarter plate.

The movement is not only thin, but has a very efficient gear train with a 94.2% index (in comparison to most calibres with an efficiency of around 80%). It also received the “double-click wheel”, which prevents the rotor from turning when the mainspring is fully wound. The unit incorporates the NOMOS Swing System and from 2016 onwards it is placed in all timepieces of the neomatik collection.
