Épure embodies the philosophy of Frédéric Boucheron, the founder of the Maison. He chose the Latin script found on the small cannon at the Place du Palais-Royal “Horas non numero nisi serenas”, meaning “I count only the joyful hours” as the motto for his watch making.
The watches reflect this attitude, whether they are refined and elegant Épure watches or the feminine and diverse Reflet pieces. In 2013 Boucheron introduced the white gold and pink gold versions of Épure and the watch quickly became the synonym for sophisticated style. This year the Maison extended the line with 33 mm or 42 mm steel case, black or silver matte dial. As a signature, there is a cabochon sapphire on the dial and another one on the crown. Sapphire is long associated with peace and happiness, and believed to help with communication, insight, intuition, inspiration; Frédéric Boucheron trusted in it as a talisman.
In the middle of the dial, the watch is decorated with the clous de Paris motif (reflecting the cobblestones of Parisian streets). The former Épure watches have only hour-markers but on the new models we can find two big numerals, 9 and 3, which commemorate the year 1893 too, when the Boucheron boutique opened at 26 Place Vendôme.
In the line Boucheron included the chronograph, a bit more technical side of Épure.
Serpent
The iconic snake motif of the House symbolizing eternity appears on the pieces of the Serpent series. The yellow and white gold pieces are set with pavé diamonds; the collection includes a ring, earrings, necklaces, bracelets in various thicknesses as well as a jewel watch. The Serpent necklace is available in a longer version, which can also be worn as a double-tour necklace, or by removing the centrepiece and using it as a brooch thanks to a stunning pin set with pavé diamonds.
Secret watches
Khépri á Secret is a true tiny masterpiece. It is a beetle-shaped jewel-watch, where the wings of the beetle open in a fine and slow manner thanks to a unique watch movement. It has gadroon-sculpted upper wings in mother-of-pearl and underneath reveal smaller wings in open-work set with diamonds and rubies. The previous little bug had blue sapphires on his wings and head.
Making a tribute to the House’s gem-setting expertise, the Lierre de Lumière secret watch is a stunning high jewellery bracelet. Ivy – being an evergreen plant – represents eternity, fidelity, and immortality. Frédéric Boucheron found wild ivy beneath the arcades of the Palais-Royal in Paris, and was inspired. The leaves on this piece are gold-sculpted and set with brilliant diamonds and open-worked veins. One of the leaves is movable and it hides the little watch. There is also a beautiful teeny tool, a white gold ivy leaf to set the time on the watch.
Boucheron also showcased beautiful jewellery pieces from its heritage collection and creations from the recent years.
