"Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without." - Confucius

For the first time this year Tudor set up an individual, stunning booth at Baselworld. The black and red exterior and interior spaces fit beautifully with the brand. Tudor is owned by Rolex, but has its own identity and image. Although Tudor labels itself as a “boutique company” (and compared to Longines or Tag Heuer, they really are not large…), in marketing and communication they are not small in the slightest and their intention is clearly to lay the foundation for a mature and cool brand.

Davide Cerrato (Tudor Head of Marketing & Product Development) started the press presentation off with an effective short film, which brought a few minutes of summer to the little bit chilly Basel spring. The clip was shot in Monaco and it mirrored the charm and atmosphere which we imagine to surround the rightful ancestor of the Monte Carlo chronograph (that made its debut in 1973). The Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue is not an entirely new timepiece, but is the icon’s modern and stylish re-thought version. The steel case has bidirectional rotatable 12-hour graduated (48 positions) steel bezel for second time-zone display, a blue disc and self-winding mechanical movement (chronograph function). The blue, orange and grey colour combination lends a graceful and Mediterranean appearance to the watch, especially if the wearer opts for the blue-white-orange vertical stripe fabric strap to complement it.

The Fastrider Black Shield, designed in cooperation with Ducati (on 30 June 2011, Tudor became the Timing Partner of Ducati, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer), represents an entirely different style. This is a distinct, athletic, masculine watch. An exclusive bike, the special edition of the Ducati Diavel Carbon Motorcycle, was manufactured to complement the black and red design.

The watch case is made of a very resistant, matte black ceramic, with the so-called monobloc technology. This means that the case is carved from a single piece of ceramic. Thus the watch has a unique surface, has a nice finish and is comfortable to wear. For those customers, who prefer not to wear red, the model will be available with bronze digits and beige Alcantara® strap too.
