Mouawad has been producing watches since 1972, when Robert Mouawad founded Robergé in Switzerland. In 1990 he acquired a watch case production facility in Les Breuleux in the Joux Valley. In 2010 two of his sons Fred and Pascal took over the management of the watch brand, while Alain launched his Blacksand Collection.

Earning an increasing focus beyond the traditional jewellery line, the watch product line received Alain as co-Guardian on 27 January 2013. He presides over the Manufacturing Division in Geneva and the workshops at Les Breuleux. Mouawad officially launched their similarly branded time piece creations 4th March in Dubai.

The recently opened Mouawad New Generation boutique in the Muscat Opera Galleria introduced this fresh Mouawad watch line in Oman. At the grand opening on 10 April 2013, Alain Mouawad presented the Mouawad Grande Ellipse 18 piece collection for men and the Mouawad La Griffe series for ladies. For this occasion the House also presented its one-of-a-kind jewellery watch, the Snow White Princess Diamond Watch weighing a total of 106.93 carats of colorless diamonds.

The elliptical shape characteristic of the Robergé Andromède series dominates on the Mouawad Grande Ellipse collection. The collection ranges from the more formal diamond or pink rose gold Royales through pink rose gold and stainless steel Sport Villes, to the pink rose gold and titanium Sport models. (Mouawad’s Powerboat team, Omar Danial and Gary Ballough also wear the Grande Ellipse.)

The company dedicates the Mouawad La Griffe quartz collection to glamorous contemporary women. They come in stainless steel or rose gold cases and with mother-of-pearl dials in different color themes. A total of 16 diamonds lay in the four lugs around the dial on the case. On the more precious rose gold version the bezels and the 12 and 6 numerals are also encrusted in diamonds.

Since it was first presented at the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition last year, the Snow White Princess Diamond Watch has only been shown at highly esteemed events. Being the highlight of the grand opening, the $6.8m worth jewel watch was displayed at the Muscat Opera Galleria boutique until 13 April.
