Maurice Lacroix has introduced its newest timepiece collection, the Pontos S Solar, marking the first solar-powered movement in the sporty Pontos line. Released in June 2026, these watches combine Swiss watchmaking craftsmanship with innovative solar quartz technology designed for active lifestyles.
The tagline of the new release of Maurice Lacroix is “The sun at full power”. Currently it couldn’t be more aptly named, as we are experiencing a heatwave in Europe, also bringing clear skies and strong sunshine. This Friday the novelties welcomed us in the Zurich boutique of the brand.
Maurice Lacroix offers two limited editions in the new line: one is the Pontos Solar with black dial and Gun DLC treated satin-brushed and polished case, fluorescent green details, while the other is the Pontos S Solar Chronograph radiating in bright orange, both with matching rubber straps.
Alongside these pieces, Maurice Lacroix introduces the Pontos S Solar and Pontos S Solar Chronograph with black or blue dials and black, blue, or green aluminium bezels, each perfectly matched to the look of the watch. Every model is fitted with the Easychange strap system requiring no tools, offered in two options: a rubber strap embossed with the Maurice Lacroix name, or a five-row metal bracelet.
All models feature a robust 42mm stainless steel case (13mm thickness) with water resistance up to 200 meters. The unidirectional rotating bezel includes an aluminium insert with bi-color Super-LumiNova markings for underwater readability. A distinctive smoked translucid dial allows 20-30% light penetration to power the solar cell beneath.
Powered by Swiss-made Ronda movements—the Ronda 215 for the three-hand version and the Ronda 2040.D for the chronograph—these watches convert light into energy.
At full charge, the standard model offers up to 8 months of autonomy, while the chronograph provides 5 months. The movements eliminate the need for battery changes for over 10 years, far exceeding traditional quartz alternatives.
