10 October, 2025, marks the inaugural edition of World Watch Day by Journée Internationale de l’Horlogerie. Learn more about the initiative and how you can take part!

The Watchmaking town planning of La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle was recognized by UNESCO in June 2009 for its exceptional universal value. Since December 16th 2020, UNESCO also has registered the craftsmanship of mechanical watchmaking and art mechanics on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. But until now, there’s never been a day dedicated to watchmaking. The founding members of the World Watch Day invite everyone to join and share the passion of watchmaking in all its forms.

It will take place each year on 10 October – a nod to tradition, as 10:10 is the time watches are typically set to when displayed. A subtle tribute to symmetry, beauty, and the joy of timekeeping.

On October 10, 2025, the very first edition of World Watch Day will stream online, following time zones from East to West. In the spirit of shared celebration, the day will be animated by media outlets, associations, collectors’ clubs, and content creators from all over the world.

To coordinate the initiative, a dedicated non-profit association has been created, bringing together leading voices committed to promoting watchmaking culture globally. Its founding members include the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, Watch Library Foundation, Horopedia, Horological Society of New York, Europa Star, Le Figaro, Hantang Culture, and Arc Horloger.
