In a 100-piece limited edition, Vacheron Constantin extends the art of miniature painting beyond the dial and onto the strap, merging the ephemeral beauty of spring blossoms with the craftsmanship of Haute Couture. This new iteration of the Égérie collection invites a dialogue between the fleeting nature of seasons and the permanence of fine watchmaking.
The year 2026 marks an evolution for Vacheron Constantin’s Égérie collection, originally launched in 2020 as a tribute to femininity and a canvas for creative expression. The collection has been defined by its dialogue with the world of Haute Couture—referencing beading, embroidery, and the fluidity of fabric. In 2024 the Maison presented its creative collaboration with Chinese-born, Paris-based Haute Couture designer Yiqing Yin for example. The brand has now ventured into a new artistic territory showcasing miniature painting on the watch strap.
Égérie Moon Phase Spring Blossom
The Égérie Moon Phase Spring Blossom has a 37mm case crafted from 18K 5N pink gold, a size chosen for its versatility across wrist dimensions. The dial, a study in softness, features a light pink mother-of-pearl surface with the signature ‘Pleats’ pattern, evoking the texture of a freshly opened petal or the swirl of a couture skirt. This central disc is framed by a circular track of applied 18K gold ‘pearls’ and a bezel set with 58 brilliant-cut diamonds.
However, the true innovation lies in the strap. For the first time in the Maison’s history, miniature painting is applied to a calfskin strap. Meticulously hand-painted, the strap depicts delicate spring blossoms in soft pinks and whites, creating a ‘magical cloud’ effect that mirrors the seasonal transition. Because of the natural tonal variations in mother-of-pearl and the unique nature of hand-painting, every one of the 100 numbered pieces is subtly distinct.
The delicate work of Chinese artist and illustrator Shan Jiang embodies ‘Explore All Ways Possible’, Vacheron Constantin annual theme. As the Maison shares he ‘infuses his work with the influence of his hometown, Shanghai. In his creations, he blends skyscrapers and bungalows, traditional superstitions, contemporary concepts and ideologies, and thriving subcultures.’
The choice of a pink palette and floral imagery of the novelty resonates with the broader cultural appreciation for spring as a symbol of renewal and fragility. In literature and poetry across cultures, the cherry blossom (or similar spring flowers) often represents the transient nature of life. This concept known as ‘mono no aware’ in Japanese aesthetics. The term has been variously translated as the ‘pathos of things’ and as an ’empathy’ or ‘sympathy toward things‘ a bittersweet sensitivity to the impermanence of life.
By capturing this evanescent beauty in a durable medium like gold and leather, Vacheron Constantin creates a tension between the fleeting moment and the enduring nature of the object.
The moon phase complication, positioned between 1 and 3 o’clock, is encircled by 36 diamonds. The display itself is a masterclass in depth: 18K gold moons emerge from mother-of-pearl clouds against a dusky pink sky, creating a subtle contrast with the main dial. The winding crown, set with a moonstone, sits between 1 and 2 o’clock, anchoring the off-center layout that defines the Égérie aesthetic. The numerals, rendered in 18K gold with a curling form, recall the scalloped patterns of lace, further reinforcing the Couture inspiration.
The poetic timepiece is powered by the Calibre 1088 L, a manufacture self-winding mechanical movement. With a diameter of 30mm and a thickness of 5.03mm, it offers a power reserve of approximately 40 hours and operates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour). The movement comprises 164 components and 24 jewels, providing indications for hours, minutes, seconds, and moon phases.
The watch is supplied with a comprehensive set of accessories, including a dedicated pink calfskin pouch decorated with a blossom motif and a matching strap case. Owners receive two additional interchangeable straps: one in shiny raspberry pink alligator and another in blush-pink grosgrain fabric. Each strap is equipped with an 18K 5N pink gold pin buckle, and the rapid-change system requires no tools, allowing the wearer to adapt the timepiece to different moods or occasions instantly.
The 100-piece edition is available exclusively through Vacheron Constantin boutiques.
