The Geneva auction week starts with previews, exhibitions, cocktail parties leading up to the live and online auctions. We collected a few highlight events below.
In each May and November since the 1960s, auction houses, bidders, visitors, media and brands from the watch and jewellery world come together in Geneva for the auction week. The auction houses open their traditional spaces in the hotels, such as the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues or the Beau Rivage.
Earlier this year, Phillips announced a significant shift in venue for its watch and jewellery auctions in town. In parallel to their recent expansion into the jewellery category, they will meet the expanding audience at the prestigious Hotel President Geneva. On this occasion, the auction house is opening a selling exhibition today with the title ‘Symbols, Colour and Form’. Available until 13 May, it presents the jewels of contemporary visionaries like Alix Dumas and DYNE.
The much anticipated Only Watch auction is back with Christie’s for its 10th edition and it will return to the Palexpo for the second time.
The watch and jewellery lovers arrive to Switzerland well before the auctions. It is a great time to socialize of course, but also to visit manufactures or to check out the latest releases in the boutiques and retailers.
The renovated MB&F M.A.D. Gallery is open again with the new architectural identity and in April Dior unveiled its new boutique designed by Christian de Portzamparc. You can try to book a table at F.P. Journe Le Restaurant, opened end of last year and located on the Rue du Rhone.
GemGenève, the international jewellery and gem show, founded by Ronny Totah and Thomas Faerber also opens on 9 May and welcomes professionals, as well as connoisseurs and private buyers with diverse programs until 12 May.
